Rainbow Lines ALL SO FAR + part 9
SUMMARY: Jillian's life has been continuing on normally for fourteen years. Freshman year is coming up, Nate is wrapping up another mystery novel, and she and Maya are as close as always. But then things go in a downward spiral. After a woman they meet at the train station sets them up with another girl who they already knew but had never met, she and Maya get close and Jillian feels she doesn't have a place in the friendship. Nate starts letting peoples' comments about his raising of Jillian get to him. To top it all off, she feels more disconnected from her military father than ever and is aching for a mother. She's losing the people she de

Everyone seems to be waiting for me to do something. Tell them I'm just kidding, I'm really overjoyed to have the part? What kind of a practical joke is that? Or maybe collapse onto the floor in a dramatic fashion. Or something.
Olivia, Sophie, and Flora sit where we always sit. Luke sits in my seat. He winks at me in a very subtle way that only I could catch.
"Back off, y'all, get away." Mrs. Mercer acts like my bodyguard, like I'm some famous person in Hollywood being swarmed and attacked by paparazzi. Really, though, it's just my classmates dying to watch my every move. I blink a few times too many, and I swear I see Lucy Parry write som

Behind the Curtain - ALL SO FAR
With one last spray to the hair and one last swipe to the eyes, we're ready and set to go.
We all hug each other and whisper, "Good show" and "Break a leg" until we're tired of hearing our own voices. The light and sound board operators and the mini light board operator get to their places. The house lights flicker and finally turn all the way down. Folding chairs squeak behind the grand drape, and adrenalin shoots through my veins. It's that one moment before the curtains swish open that I dread and cannot wait for at every show we perform.
The grand drape squeaks along, the delicate velvet swishing, as the props girl tugs on the pulley.

Back in Mercer's room, it's crazy central. I never thought that kids talking and laughing and singing could literally sound like a buzzing noise, but it does. Mercer sits on her desk, seemingly coaching Zain, Paul, and another kid named Nick gathered around her. Other kids are grouped away into their little cliques, and about six of my classmates, including Sophie and Olivia and Luke, are crowded around the stereo in the corner. It blasts Fugue for Tinhorns into the room. Mrs. Mercer turned on her Scentsy, and the artificial smell of oatmeal cookies wafts through the room. All lights and lamps are on, scripts are spread out, everyone's eagerl
I click open my pen and review the list.
:bulletblack:Everyone wishes they could live in a place this great.
:bulletblack:Like other fictional characters your new housing is.
:bulletblack:Open yet closed at the same time.
:bulletblack:In the downstairs area, there are people and food galore.
:bulletblack:Stairs or elevator, take your pick.
:bulletblack:Each of you will love this new place. :-)
I added the smile at the end, because every time she re-told me that clue, she grinned at the end, looking genuinely happy. That made me a little more confident about Mom choosing the new "living arrangements" all by herself, without asking us f

I rub my temples. How am I supposed to concentrate on this math test with THEM texting like crazy with each other in the corner? Texting is against the rules, anyway. How come the rich, spoiled kids can get away with anything at school, and the rest of us are being watched like hawks?
"Fifteen more minutes," Ms. Morgen says, causing my heart to drop into my Airwalk high-tops and my pencil to make sparks across the test paper. Adri, my best friend, starts writing faster, too.
Kara and Abby giggle and continue texting. Oh my goshMs. Morgen is the most clueless teacher I've ever had! She's checking
I let my head fall hard against the glass window, watching raindrops play tag on the other side. I've already exhausted every item in my backpack, and the drive isn't even half over. My handheld electronic solitaire needs new batteries, my old iPod Nano died (and the charger is stuffed somewhere in Charlotte's--me--Suitcase #1, which is buried underneath all of Mallory's suitcases in the trunk), and I finished one of the two books I brought with me that I didn't stuff into Suitcase #2.
"Charlotte, you are being way too overdramatic about all of this," Mom insists. She swerves, barely missing an out-of-control semi-truck twirling around in t
Life gets a lot easier when you learn to live out of one backpack and one suitcase.
My Mimi always used to tell me that. Okay, actually she told me that "Life gets a lot easier when you learn to live off of a buck a week and only one tube of toothpaste for the entire family!" But I modified it. Her family was always quite poor, growing up. Personally, I share a tube of toothpaste with my mom, who IS my entire family, so that's the same thing.
...Well, I share it with just her FOR NOW. Soon I, Charlotte Samson, will meet my father. And not just meet him, but get to know him and love him.
I just hope he'll love me.

Also sorry for my inactivity. I haven't submitted anything in like a year or something crazy like that.
I really am serious about wanting to change my username. No offense to Shadow or Flare Silveratic, who helped me. Silver was formerly PlasmaticFlare, and Shadow is EclipticalShadow, so my username is sort of modeled off of theirs. But it's just not me. And the 12? LunarFlame was taken (and has been for 8 years) so I had to tack on my--A TOTALLY RANDOM COMPLETELY THOUGHTLESS NUMBER. But seriously, I hate the number 12. For no reason.
So I need name suggestions! This is especially for those of you who personally know me. I want something that is one word (capitalized! :dummy:) and is unique and ME. If you can't think of anything I understand;
